Dr Graham Hunter

Graham joined Ardene House Veterinary Practice, in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1990 following graduation from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh. Originally undertaking small animal, farm and equine work in all three departments of this large practice, he very quickly was concentrating solely in equine work, where his real passion lay. He was instrumental in building the first equine hospital facility in the north of Scotland at Kingswells in 1997.

Keen on personal development, Graham, during his many years in equine practice has undertaken three extra equine qualifications, most recently attaining a certificate in equine surgery and orthopaedics. In 2009 Graham was appointed as an RCVS examiner for the Certificate in Equine Practice and continued in this position for 5 years. Although interested in all aspects of equine medicine and surgery, his focus and passion over recent years has very much been on lameness, gait analysis and surgery cases.

Over the years he has held many roles including, VetTrust Director, extensive World Horse Welfare charity work, a Joint Measurement Board Official Measurer, a judge for British Breeding Futurity gradings. Graham also works for the NHS in a role, representing the equine industry in antibiotic prescribing stewardship and has also done a significant amount of lecturing to horse clients and vets at Congress and professional development meetings.

In his spare time in Scotland, of which there isn’t very much, he still likes to head to the Moray coast where the lure of his fishing rods and lobster creels fills the day and the family stomachs, generally all washed down with a wee dram.
