🔹Kessock Equine Vets – Inpatient and Treatment Room Policy🔹

We have made some adjustments to our protocols for when you bring your horse into Kessock Equine Vets. These changes have been made after some serious discussions and are being implemented to help us maintain a professional work environment, client confidentiality as well as a high level of patient care, which is of utmost importance to us.

When arriving with your horse, please report to reception before driving around to the rear of the building. Upon a discussion with a member of staff and signing consent forms, you will be asked to hand your horse to the stable staff at the main stable doors, along with their belongings. You will be able you will be able to see your horse and check they are settling in via the external stable windows

Horses coming in for NON routine treatment/emergencies:

➡ We will ask you to wait outside of the clinic, this is due to the nature of the treatment being carried out (being more delicate, complex and/or sensitive). On a case by case basis we may ask you to come into the treatment room afterwards via our external doors to view images and discuss findings, or we may bring this outside to you.

Horses coming for routine veterinary treatment such as a routine dental or check up:

➡We will be able to let you watch from the external entrance to our treatment room, this is to avoid coming down the main stable isle and allows us to maintain confidentiality for our inpatient clients, reduce foot traffic for biosecurity and keep a calm environment for inpatients.

Lameness workups:

➡These can be watched from outside with the vet, but once needing to go inside for further investigation or treatment, we ask that you please remain outside.

Visiting inpatients:

➡If your horse is with us for an extended stay (overnight etc), it is understandable you may wish to visit. However, we ask for notice of this the day prior (where possible) to ensure it is a suitable time with ongoing procedures within the clinic. We will also ask that you do not come into the main barn and can visit your horse from the external stable doors.

*Use of the toilet in the main reception is accessible from the front reception door, and we will always be happy to provide tea/coffee/water for all of our clients.

We understand there may be occasional exceptions to these rules and are happy to discuss with each client on a case by case basis. We hope you can understand our reasoning for these changes, as we have made them with our patients' best interests in mind.
